When it comes to fashion, every thing is turned into a dream ... a hope ... a thought and then in an idea mixed with feelings,
all raped up to give us a beautiful dress, or sexy pulled together look, or a themed photo-shot, or as simple as an inspiring post (if there was anything simple about posting!!)
let me describe my feelings on the 25th of April:
imagine this,
the nerdy girl going on a date with Jason Statham, or passionately kissing Johnny Depp at the beach of Bora Bora wearing a Victoria's secret bikini ... bubble thought " yeah... yes please"
ooff... it is getting hot in here :) :) ....
God!! already forgot what i was talking about, oh yes that was how i felt when i got my press pass for the second edition of Cairo Fashion Festival.
Eagerly watching the event, time came for the speech of Susan Sabet whom is the editor-in-chief of pashion magazine.
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF... my mind went directly to:
1- Anna Dello Russo: Vogue Japan
straight from the runways adding her own sense of fashion.
2-Anna Wintour: Vogue America
haute couture elegance
And then , on the runway came in Susan Sabet
let me just say, that i know how much work she does and the amazing cover pages and how many people she helped to blossom at the Egyptian fashion scene where (trust me) it is hard to do something new.
I get all that, why i don't get is:
- why are you wearing a skirt that looks like it was done in an hour for the biggest fashion event in Egypt?
- why are you wearing a skirt in the wrong fabric for a long day?
- why you didn't wear an outfit from an Egyptian designer as a support (btw it is your job to look for new talents)?
- why you didn't show your fashion sense even if it was in an editorial look, btw: best chance to do that was at the cff?
- why your speech included word like: ( your never be able to make a dress like channel, it needs lots of money) where was the positive talk?
i only wish that people already are on top of the Egyptian fashion scene, would consider doing things in a different way and just focus on having a real fashion industry.
Put your effort into that hope, and even if it wasn't new york fashion week, dress like it.
